My house looks fabulous. Feel free to drive by and take a look for yourself. Cornerstone Contracting completed everything to my satisfaction... and I'm a tough critic!!

I purchased my house new 12 years ago and the wooden windows had already started to rot and mold after just 9 years. I desperately needed at least two new windows this year. The others I decided could wait until next year so I could save my money for what I expected would be $25,000.00 for all windows in the house. This estimate was based on a couple bids I received from two of the top industry leaders.

My boyfriend is a gas technician and he went to a house to fix the owner's furnace. The owner started talking to Garry and told him about the new vinyl windows he just had installed. Garry thought they looked great and just the day before I was whining about having to get new windows. Garry got the name and phone number from the owner. It was Cornerstone Contracting. Garry gave me the information and I decided to research "vinyl" windows on the internet. I entered "Wood Windows vs. Vinyl Windows" in the search engine and found several articles of which the majority of the articles clearly recommended vinyl over wood. This surprised me.

I heard of vinyl windows, but I already had wooden windows and I thought vinyl windows would not look good with the wood frames I had. I was wrong on a couple accounts. First of all, when I met with Mike initially and told him I only wanted two windows replaced, he asked me if the price was right, would I want to go with replacing all the windows in the house. I chuckled inside, but when I saw the price, I couldn't believe it. It actually was reasonable and much less than other bids I received for wooden windows.

Secondly, I was wrong about the durability of vinyl windows. These windows are SOLID and require no maintenance other than to dust the window sills periodically. They are not expected to rot or mold and should last probably longer than I'll live. Most likely wooden windows would do the same thing again (rot & mold) and I'd be back in the same predicament. Vinyl windows come with all sorts of variations to match one's décor.

Here's another issue I had... The roll-out cranks on my wooden windows had all been stripped except for two bedroom windows. It's hard to get a nice breeze in the house this way. To ensure I wouldn't be faced with this hassle again, I got slider windows. Easy to clean, easy to open, great breeze! Love them. Also, the other window companies will, in fact, tell you it will take 8-10 weeks to get the windows in. Not the case with the windows I bought - 2 1/2 week!

Not only did I get the windows replaced, but the mortar in the brick on the front of my house was deteriorating due to carpenter ants. While I had the ants sprayed and they disappeared, I needed new brick. Mike suggested a new type of brick that uses no mortar. The bricks have a bottom lip which tucks underneath the brick below it. There's no way moisture can get in, and it looks fabulous. Curious.... feel free to drive by and take a look. I think you'll be impressed.

No one made me write this letter. And I can assure you that had I not been satisfied, I would have written a letter to the contrary. Before you get hung up about having to spend your hard-earned money on windows, contact Cornerstone Contracting and see what they can do for you. You'll be pleasantly surprised in many ways!

We all know our home is one of our most important investments. As a homeowner for the last 30 years, we forunately have never had to go to our homeowners insurance company for a claim of any kind. In September 2005, large portions of the Twin Cities area endured a very powerful, destructive storm, which included high winds, torrential rains, and damaging hail. We were not making use of our deck. After going to the home show we decided on Cornerstone Contracting to add a sunroom on our existing deck. We are very pleased with our new room. It doesn't seem possible that 6 months have passed since my new windows were installed. I'm still ast thrilled with them as I was on day one! I noitced that my heating bill was considerably lower when we had that first cold spell around the holidays and early in January. After all of the wind and thunderstorms we've had this spring I could sleep comfortably without hearing much of the noise from outdoors. I'm kind of spooked when it comes to Spring storms!! Not only have the windows improved the appearance of my home both inside and out, but people have noticed and commented, of course I told them that the work was done by Cornerstone! To things off, for the first time ever I almost enjoyed spring cleaning the winters dirt and grime from the windows. It's so easy when you don't have to deal with ladders!! We've really had such a mild winter, that it's hard to compare accurate costs and savings with my beautiful new windows. I do know for certain, that I have been cozy and warm and draft-free this whole winter. Every time the wind blows, the curtains don't move like they used to!! I actually, (well almost) enjoyed cleaning the windows last spring and fall. This has always been one of my least favorite household jobs! It won't be long now and I'll be able to clean them again!! I've had Cornerstone Contracting do 3 projects for me. On the first, they were subcontractors for a siding company. I wish the siding folk had been as efficient as the Cornerstone crew...When storm damage opened up new possibilities--ie: a new garage, I called Mike and his crew to do the storm damage repairs to the roof/gutters and replace the storm-damaged privacy fence plus built a new garage and installed a new side staircase to accomodate my arthritic knees. Then, I had them come out and replace the bathroom floor and replace some damaged tub tile, which involved removing some of the tub surround tiles and replacing the backing and the tiles. They also did the prep work so I could install a handicapped type grab bar in the bathtub. They also ripped out the moldy sheetrock in the basement well room and replaced it with new sheetrock that is primed and ready to paint. They even replaced the ceiling light fixture in the wellroom. These days it's hard to find contractors who will show up when they say they will and do a decent job. Mike and the Cornerstone guys *do* show up when they say they will and they work very hard until the job is done. My little house has only 1 bathroom so Steve and Ryan made sure I had a useable bathroom every evening. They used fast-setting mastic and grout for the bathroom floor tile so I had my bathroom available by the end of the day and the shower was available the next day. Ryan came in on a Saturday and worked from 8am to 7pm to get all the tile work finished. I normally don't like to leave the house open or leave the key for contractors but these guys are trustworthy. The neighbors are also really impressed with how dilligent the Cornerstone crew was on the garage project. Steve and his summer helper built the garage, side stairs, and replaced the privacy fence.

We were fortunate enough to get in on the beginnning of Cornerstone's venture into sunrooms, and are we ever pleased. We had 14x14 patio room added to our house, initially to have year round coverage for a hot tub, but with Mike's input, it became much more than that. What we have is an awesome 3-season useable addition that has enhanced the both the aesthetics and value of our house. From the initial proposal to the completion of the project, everyone involved has been professional, respectful, and courteous...not to mention the quality of workmanship is excellent. We just love our new windows, and the bay window adds to the look of our house. We are loving them daily. We have had many comments on how great they look. It is unbelievable how days turn into weeks and weeks into months and I apologize the my tardiness on getting this to you. In the summer of 2005 we contacted you to talk with us about replacing the siding on our home and installing a patio door in our kitchen. There was no pressure from you to buy your product or hire your company to do the job, like we had experienced from other contractors. We have to say that is what we appreciated the most. We are so pleased with our new windows and with Cornerstone's work for us! Our 1940 Cape Cod still had its original windows and they were in poor condition. You could feel a breeze if you were near them. Now we are enjoying the clean lines and insulated panes of our new double-hung windows.
The installation went exactly as we were told it would. Cornertstone communicated a very clear timetable and they adhered to it from ordering the custome windows to replacing the old ones. Cody and Shawn were a pleasure to have around; they worked diligently and were very respectful of our home. They went beyond our expectations, even to the point of wrapping the exterior sills on two windows that weren't being replaced.

20 Below Wind Chill!

To Whom It May Concern:

I had Cornerstone Contracting install new windows in my home last week and I am absolutely thrilled with them. The windows themselves are beautiful and very easy to operate. Plus, even though the windows are no larger than my old ones, it seems like they're twice as big. There is so much more actual window space, the inside of my home is a tons lighter. The best part, Iým not feeling any drafts through the house as the wind howls outside!

The crew was superb. Mike, Cody and Matt are the very best. They were there when promised and finished when promised. They installed 15 windows in one day on one of the coldest days we've had so far this winter. The temperature was 0 and the wind chill was 20 below but because they worked around the storm windows, they kept the cold air coming in to a bare minimum. They really are to be commended; they were all very courteous and professional throughout, even when freezing their fingers off.

I'm very pleased with my new windows and with the total job done by Cornerstone Contracting. Thanks to everyone involved for such a great job.

Everyone Was Great!

The house is so much warmer and the furnace runs much less than it did before (my husband timed it.) We can't wait until spring when we can open all our new windows. We couldn't do that before because of the windows either not working, or looking so bad we were embarrassed to do so. Our kitchen has taken on a whole new look. We had carriage windows before which gave it a charm of its own. I really didn't want to lose them, but they were small, drafty, and hard to keep clean. We replaced them with one large window, and a V-Bay window on the side. The kitchen looks twice as large as it did before.

Everyone we worked with was great, from Lance and Mark who got us started to Mike, Brian & Cody who did such a great job putting in the windows and working so hard on one of the coldest days of the year. By the time they left the house was cleaner than before they came. Thank you all. It's been a pleasure!

I Will Never Forget Cornerstone...

I just wanted to let you know that I don't have enough kind words to say about the guys (Cody, Sam, Wayne & Jason) you sent out to do my siding and bow window. That mystic blue with the white corner posts just makes it look so nice. With this old house (built in 1915) I know it was quite a challenge for them to make it look this nice as things were not square. Cody did an awesome job in putting in the bay window with the little roof and all. I am so pleased with that. For such a young man, he is a master at his trade. What a delightful young man. He has accomplished more in his young years than most people accomplish in a lifetime. I can't say enough good things about him and all of your workers. They amazed me that every night they did complete cleanup. You would have never known they were working here. After a couple of days I felt as if they were my family. I cried when they left. The Decision Was up to Me!

Mike,

First of all I would like to thank you and your company for a job well done!!!! From the first day I met you, to the completed project, you and your company did a wonderful job. To begin with, there was no sales pressure put on me to purchase windows, the information was provided to me, and the decision was left to me. The explanation of the products, and the craftsmanship was wonderful and very helpful.

The crew showed up on Saturday, and ready to work. Shawn and Jason did a wonderful job of covering everything in the area that they were working in.

The inside of the house was cleaner after they left than before they started. They were very polite, and concerned about the craftsmanship they provided. They even washed the windows after they were installed.

The windows themselves are wonderful. We replaced double hung windows with 2-lite sliders. By installing the sliders, we gained 8 inches of glass and actual window. Our small kitchen actually appears larger without compromising the character of the home. Our front porch had 6 double hung windows, and they were replaced with 3 sliders. We gained over 9 square feet of window in our front porch and will not have to worry about frost bite come winter.

I thank Mike and Cornerstone for all of their wonderful work, and if anyone has any questions about their work or the windows that they use, feel free to contact me. I would recommend them to my grandmother, and feel safe about their quality of work, and their honesty. Thanks Again!!!!!

I was Very Impressed

I wanted to thank the Cornerstone Crew for the wonderful job they did on my home with the new sliding. The house looks great! They were very good about what they were doing. They explained what they were doing and why. When I asked them questions they answered them. I was very impressed with the material they were using. It was a thicker grade than most companies use and thicker insulation. It really helped insulate the house better. Thanks!

Customers for Life!!

Dear Mike,

Thank you so much for our beautiful new windows and roof! It's not every day someone knocks on our front door to sell us windows. At first we thought we would we'd have our bathroom window replaced so we could finally put a shower in there, but after a little show and tell, we ended up signing a contract for the 10 windows and new shingles. From the time we signed our contract to the completion of the two projects, we were prepared to go through the nightmares we've heard from so many other people who've had work done on their homes [by different companies] that took months. From first signature to final payment, time spent on our project was 32 days.

Mark came in and measured a few days after signing, and ordered our windows, which took only 3 weeks. While waiting for the windows, Mark's crew got going on our roof. They began on Thursday afternoon, tearing off the old shingles and laying down the paper. They returned Friday morning and were done by mid-afternoon! The men who worked on our roof were very pleasant and polite and answered all our questions. Clean up was better than expected. They replaced the turbines and vents too, which was a surprise.

When the windows finally arrived, one of the men, Cody, stopped by the day before installation to introduce himself. There was a bad snowstorm the morning of installation, but he called and was only an hour late. I was shocked at fast and efficient the two of them were. Within 3 hours our old windows were out and the new ones getting installed. After they got the windows all done on the inside, they began taking down the storm windows from the outside. This was all being done during the coldest part of the year and we never had to turn out furnace up!

They did such a wonderful job! The clean up was again better than expected. Mike vacuumed all the carpet and even cleaned up after the alarm company. I've already been telling a lot of people about your company.

We are looking forward to doing business with you again, next year, 10 more windows in the family room, we can't wait!!

We Love Our New Windows!

What can I say? When Mike came to our door asking if we had ever considered getting new windows, and my husband said yes, and agreed to talk to someone, I was a bit skeptical. But now, a month later, we love our new windows!

We couldn't believe it!

Dear Sirs,

On Saturday, December 13, 2003 your company installed ten new windows at our home in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. When they arrived at 8:30 AM they said they would be done in six hours. We couldn't believe that it could be done in such a short time. But to our surprise, your crew of Mike, Cody and Matt did it as they said. The crew was very friendly and answered all our questions as they did the installing. They were careful when taking out the old windows and they did this before taking off the old storm windows. This kept the cold air from coming in to a minimum and it really wasn't cold at all in our house even with the outside temperature in the teens.

We were grateful that they were able to do the job on Saturday as that was the best day for us. We also appreciated the work of your production manager, who over saw the job and was very helpful in obtaining and installing new brackets for hanging our window shades. The crew did a bang up job and the windows look great. We are very pleased with the windows. The grids give us the same look as the old French windows (60 years old) but without the hassle of washing and painting around those small wood frames. We even washed a few of them afterwards and it was so great to be able to run the wash and drying rags over the windows without any interference.

The other pluses that we received along with the windows were a life time guaranty on the windows from defects and breakage. They also installed six smoke alarms throughout the house. We are so pleased with the windows and recommend them to one and all.

Very good work

Almost one month has passed since the installation of my new windows and I cannot even begin to explain how pleased I am; besides the fact that they look so beautiful. I could instantly notice how much warmer and less drafty my house feels. It still boggles my mind that the new ones could be installed so quickly. I would like to compliment your crew on the great clean up job they did. There was absolutely no mess left anywhere! Even the window treatments were put back up! Most of all, I enjoyed working with you, Mike. You are such a nice young and have such a pleasant personality and a real, genuine concern for your customer's thoughts and ideas. Another thing I like about you is that you are not a high-pressured salesman! This cold spell coming up should be a good "window test". I am sure I can be really cozy inside looking out at the cold!
